Fed Meeting Uncertainty Keeps Bitcoin Price Stable Near $65,000
The Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting on September 15 and 16 has left markets in a state of uncertainty, with odds split between a rate hike and a hold. According to Kalshi market traders, there is a 49% chance of no change in rates, while a 25-basis-point increase is assigned a 47% probability. The remaining 4% points are allocated to a larger move.
The Bitcoin price has remained steady near $64,500 as traders weigh the potential impact of tighter monetary policy against softer growth signals. Despite the uncertainty, sentiment in the crypto market remains bearish, with risk appetite still low. The Fear gauge is near 25, indicating that investors are cautious and hesitant to take on more risk.
The upcoming meeting will also feature updated economic projections from the Fed, which could influence the markets further. Several Fed officials have expressed conflicting views on inflation and growth, adding to the uncertainty. Governor Lisa Cook has stated that she could support higher rates unless inflation cools soon, while San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly supports patience and more data analysis.
The divide among forecasters is also evident, with Bank of America expecting a September hike followed by increases in October and December, while JPMorgan expects no September move but sees a possible December hike. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Barclays expect rates to stay unchanged through year-end, while Citi predicts a September hold before cuts in October, December, and January.
