GSR Diversified Portfolio Falls 57.78%, Rotates Toward More Bitcoin
GSR's institutional Crypto Core3 portfolio has been struggling in the past year, falling by 57.78% since last August. This underperformance is even more striking considering that it lagged behind a cryptocurrency basket weighted equally during this time period.
The portfolio, which consists of 44.1% Ethereum, 36.5% Solana, and 19.3% Bitcoin as of August 5, has been hit hard by the decline in major cryptocurrencies. While Ethereum suffered a loss of -35.49%, Solana lost -40.21%, and Bitcoin dropped by -24.82%. Despite holding a significant portion of these assets, GSR's portfolio has still managed to post negative returns.
To mitigate this risk, the company increased its exposure to Bitcoin while decreasing its allocation to Ethereum. This move underscores the importance of adapting to changing market conditions and demonstrates the flexibility that institutional portfolio managers require during times of volatility.
