Fed Meeting Unpredictability Sends Shockwaves Through Crypto Markets
The Federal Reserve's FOMC meeting has reached its climax, and markets are bracing for the unexpected. Unlike previous meetings, where interest rate decisions were largely a foregone conclusion, this time around investors remain divided over what comes next.
With Chairman Kevin Warsh's press conference set to follow the decision announcement at 2:00 p.m. ET, Bitcoin investors have been de-risking ahead of the meeting, with BTC dipping by $3,000 yesterday before recovering half of its losses.
The uncertainty partly stems from Warsh's decision to reduce the central bank's reliance on forward guidance, leaving traders without clear policy signals they had grown accustomed to under Jerome Powell. Analysts predict that rates will likely remain unchanged, citing softer-than-expected inflation data and a weakening labor market as reasons for this decision.
However, some experts believe that the Fed might lose credibility if it waits too long to tighten financial conditions further. With renewed geopolitical tension, tariffs, and energy-market instability on the horizon, inflation remains well above the 2% target, pushing prices higher.
