Fetch.ai and NuNet Hit by $2M Malicious Exploit
A malicious exploit has affected Fetch.ai and NuNet, resulting in a loss of approximately $2 million. According to PeckShieldAlert, on September 19, an attacker drained about 8.7 million FET from Fetch.ai, valued at $1.53 million, and illicitly minted roughly 408.5 million NTX worth $462,730 through NuNet.
The affected assets totalled around $2 million, with the unauthorized NTX issuance coinciding with a steep decline in the token's reported price. The exploiter converted the proceeds into about 546.36 ETH, valued at approximately $1.44 million at the time of publication.
NuNet's price plummeted after the unauthorised issuance of more than 408 million tokens, with reported declines ranging from about 65% to 95.7%. This sharp decline is directly linked to the illicit token minting.
