Fidelity Backs Bitcoin as Strategic Diversifier Amid Price Surge
Fidelity Investments has thrown its weight behind Bitcoin as a strategic diversifier for portfolios. Director of global macro, Jurrien Timmer, views Bitcoin alongside commodities and gold as an asset capable of balancing out traditional stock-and-bond mixes.
Timmer points to Bitcoin's low correlation with stocks and near-zero correlation with long-term U.S. Treasuries as key qualities making it a useful hedge rather than just another growth bet.
Bitcoin's recent push above $80,000 is seen by Timmer as the technical trigger confirming a double-bottom pattern targeting roughly $100,000.
The asset currently trades near $86,000 with short-term gains and has also gained strength relative to gold. This combination could mark the start of a fresh four-year bull market cycle for Bitcoin.
