Fidelity’s technology research team has highlighted Solana’s improved reliability, noting that the network has operated for over two years without a major mainnet outage while maintaining a 99.7% vote success rate. This marks a significant shift from Solana’s earlier reputation for frequent disruptions, as the network has become more dependable amid growing financial activity.
The report, published on October 16, emphasizes that Solana is now handling substantial stablecoin transactions and attracting tokenized assets and institutional participation. The network’s speed and efficiency are becoming increasingly important as users rely on it for more than short-term speculative trades.
However, Fidelity’s researchers caution that stake concentration, hosting dependencies, software-client diversity, and geographic distribution of infrastructure remain critical concerns. These factors could impact the network’s ability to withstand serious disruptions, even as Solana pursues performance improvements like shorter slot times and new software clients.
The central question posed by Fidelity is whether Solana can maintain both decentralization and reliability as it scales to support more consequential financial activity. While the network has made strides in stability, the risks associated with concentration and infrastructure dependencies persist.
