Fidelity Lets Investors Add Bitcoin, Ether, and Litecoin to Retirement Accounts
Fidelity Investments has introduced a new Fidelity Crypto IRA that allows individual investors to add Bitcoin, Ether, and Litecoin to their retirement accounts. The product supports traditional, Roth, and rollover IRAs, giving clients the option to hold digital assets in tax-advantaged retirement wrappers.
The Fidelity Crypto IRA uses Fidelity Digital Assets to provide custody and trading services for crypto accounts. According to Fidelity's help documentation, clients can open or convert an IRA and elect to hold supported cryptocurrencies inside that account.
Fidelity has been expanding its crypto offerings in recent months, rolling out spot crypto ETPs and drawing notable flows into its crypto products. However, investors should be aware that crypto held in an IRA still carries market risk and tax rules specific to IRAs.
