Fidelity Seeks SEC Approval for Staking in Ethereum ETF

Fidelity has submitted paperwork to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requesting permission to add staking functionality to its Ethereum ETF, which currently manages over $898 million in assets.

The proposed revenue distribution model would allocate 85% of gross staking income to the fund itself, with the remaining balance distributed as compensation to sponsors, custodial partners, and node validators.

Ethereum's total staked amount has been growing steadily since January, reaching 41.81 million ETH this week, while proponents of EIP-8363 argue that reducing staking rewards would decrease supply inflation and strengthen network security mechanisms.
