Fireblocks Teams Up with Kakao Pay and Kakao Bank on Korean Digital Asset Initiative
Fireblocks has partnered with Kakao Pay and Kakao Bank to explore opportunities in Korea's digital asset market. The three companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 22, aiming to develop stablecoin distribution frameworks suited to Korea's regulatory requirements.
The collaboration will leverage Fireblocks' infrastructure expertise, Kakao Group's extensive reach and financial knowledge, and block chain technology to create a secure and efficient digital asset ecosystem in Korea.
As part of the MOU, the companies plan to conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) tests to validate the viability of their proposed frameworks. This initiative marks Fireblocks' second major partnership in Asia, following its collaboration with Circle on USDC adoption.
Kakao Group has been actively exploring digital asset opportunities, having signed MOUs with several companies, including Grab and SCBX, in recent years.
