Fireblocks Unveils Features to Prevent Stuck Blockchain Transactions
Fireblocks has introduced new features to tackle stuck blockchain transactions that can freeze operations. The company's goal is to prevent single failed transactions from halting entire operations, which can be particularly problematic for exchanges and payment providers processing hundreds of transactions per minute.
The problem of stuck transactions occurs when a blockchain network is congested or when a transaction's fee is too low to be prioritized. On Ethereum, the issue is compounded by sequential processing based on wallet nonces, one failed transaction can block all subsequent ones.
Fireblocks' new approach focuses on three main areas: Transaction Timeout, Account Traffic Control, and Wallet Pools. The features allow users to set a timeout for transactions waiting to be broadcasted, proactively alert users when an account encounters issues, and group multiple vaults into pools to ensure that no single stuck nonce can freeze outgoing flows.
The stakes are high, particularly on networks like Ethereum and Bitcoin. Recent research highlights the increasing complexity of managing transaction order and fee efficiency during high demand. Fireblocks' tools aim to mitigate these challenges by automating failure detection, expediting recovery, and distributing operational risk.
