Fiscal Risks Trump Crypto Legislation for Bitcoin
BlackRock's digital-assets head Robbie Mitchnick recently highlighted a crucial aspect of Bitcoin's value. According to him, the U.S. government's fiscal trajectory is more significant than the proposed CLARITY Act in determining Bitcoin's long-term outlook.
The current federal debt stands at roughly $40.05 trillion on August 18. This staggering figure has led Mitchnick to emphasize that mounting debt and persistent fiscal deficits pose a major market risk. Some investors are now considering Bitcoin and gold as alternative stores of value due to these risks.
Mitchnick noted that while the CLARITY Act could have broader implications for other parts of the digital-asset market, including decentralized finance (DeFi), it is not the primary driver of Bitcoin's value over time. His comments underscore the importance of understanding the intersection of fiscal policy and cryptocurrency markets.
