Fiserv Goes Live with Roughrider Coin on Solana: A Shift in Blockchain Adoption
Fiserv has launched its digital asset platform, which includes Roughrider Coin, a dollar-backed stablecoin built for Bank of North Dakota's transactions on Solana.
The first production workload is Roughrider Coin, and it is part of Fiserv's plan to provide infrastructure for bank-issued stablecoins. VersaBank USA issues the token through Fiserv's platform, while Fireblocks supplies multi-party computation wallets and tokenization services.
Solana processes the underlying blockchain transactions, and the asset uses Solana's Token-2022 controls, including permissioning features such as freeze and clawback functions for institutional settings. The deployment is significant because it embeds a public blockchain inside a regulated interbank payment product.
