Fitch Gives Tesla Investment-Grade Rating, Boosting Stock
Tesla received its first-ever investment-grade rating from Fitch, which it shares with Moody's and S&P. The BBB rating signals good credit quality and low default risk for the electric vehicle maker. This news contributed to a 3.1% stock price increase on Monday, reaching $375.63.
The company plans to spend $25 billion on new plants and equipment in 2026, up from less than $9 billion last year. Tesla is expected to burn through about $10 billion more cash than it generates this year, but its reported $43.5 billion cash cushion provides some breathing room.
Several upcoming events are being closely watched by investors, including the October 1 reveal of the Roadster, Q3 deliveries, and earnings. The company's FSD system has also been provisionally approved in the Czech Republic, expanding its addressable market outside the US.
