Fogo Mainnet Rebooted After Recovering 237 Million Stolen Tokens
Fogo's mainnet has resumed operations after a security incident that saw over 400 million FOGO tokens stolen. The project recovered and permanently removed 237 million of these tokens from the total supply, leaving 163 million unrecovered.
The incident occurred on August 29 when Fogo halted its blockchain to prevent further movement of the affected assets. At the time, the Foundation said an unknown actor had compromised the organization and transferred 400 million FOGO to a 'bad actor.'
Fogo has not disclosed how the compromise occurred or which addresses or systems within the Foundation were involved. The project is working with centralized exchanges and law enforcement to recover the remaining affected assets.
