MultiversX Supernova Upgrade Set to Activate with Tenfold Speed Boost

MultiversX is set to activate its Supernova upgrade on September 10 during epoch 2233, which will significantly boost the speed of its blockchain. The upgrade aims to cut block times from six seconds to 600 milliseconds and increase the network's processing power by tenfold.

The new rules require more than 5,000 nodes to migrate onto software capable of processing the updated consensus pipeline. Validators can vote on a block while execution proceeds in parallel, removing transaction execution from the critical path that previously constrained block production.

As part of the upgrade, MultiversX is maintaining backward compatibility for addresses, keys, and balances, as well as keeping its epoch length unchanged. However, node operators must prepare for an expected temporary slowdown before the faster network takes over.
