Fold Considers Reverse Stock Split as Nasdaq-Listed Shares Plummet Below $1
Nasdaq-listed Fold, a Bitcoin financial services firm, is considering a 1-for-50 reverse stock split to address its share-price issue and regain compliance with the exchange's minimum bid-price requirement. The company's shares have closed below $1 for 30 consecutive business days, triggering a Nasdaq deficiency notice on July 14.
In an effort to clear debt, Fold sold 832 BTC during the six months ended June 30, resulting in a shrinking Bitcoin reserve. As of June 30, the company held 194 BTC worth $11.4 million in its investment treasury and another 77 BTC worth $4.5 million in a rewards treasury.
Fold may use the reverse split to mask its declining treasury without changing its underlying cash position. However, this maneuver would not address the company's operating expenses, which totaled a $15.6 million loss for the first six months of 2026.
