Former UK NCA Officer Ordered to Repay $2.4M in Bitcoin

A former UK National Crime Agency (NCA) officer has been ordered to repay $2.4 million in Bitcoin after transferring some of the cryptocurrency seized during a darknet drug investigation linked to Silk Road 2.0.

The officer, Paul Chowles, moved 50 BTC from a seizure containing 97 BTC in 2017. At the time, the 50 BTC were worth about $80,000.

The Crown Prosecution Service secured a forfeiture order requiring Chowles to repay the current value of the 50 BTC, which is now around $2.4 million.
