Forsyth County Woman Scammed Out of $4,900 with Bitcoin ATM Warrant Threat
A Forsyth County woman lost nearly $5,000 to a bitcoin ATM scam after being told she missed jury duty and needed to pay to avoid arrest.
According to authorities, the victim was targeted by scammers who claimed she had missed jury duty and would be arrested if she didn't deposit money into a bitcoin ATM immediately. The woman deposited $4,900 into a bitcoin machine at a Chevron convenience store located on Atlanta Highway this week.
The incident serves as a reminder to be cautious when interacting with strangers who claim you owe money or face arrest. Authorities urge people to verify the authenticity of such claims before taking any action.
