Fortitude Activates New Nebraska Facility to Bolster Zcash Mining Capacity
Fortitude, a digital asset mining company backed by Digital Currency Group CEO Barry Silbert, has activated a new 12-megawatt facility in Grand Island, Nebraska. This center represents the first infrastructure developed directly by Fortitude to expand its digital processing operations.
The commissioning of the Grand Island plant raises Fortitude's contracted power portfolio to more than 60 megawatts distributed across seven locations in four U.S. states. The facility operates at an estimated energy rate of approximately $0.045 per kilowatt-hour, reducing direct extraction costs from a range near $70 to approximately $40 per ZEC token.
Fortitude CEO Andrea Childs stated that activating the plant represents progress in the strategy to own and operate its own energy centers. The executive noted that this model provides cost discipline and operational flexibility to scale operations on its own commercial terms.
