Fortitude Mining Taps Hut 8 Vet as CEO Ahead of Nasdaq Debut
Fortitude Mining, a Zcash-focused cryptocurrency miner backed by Digital Currency Group, has announced a major leadership change as it prepares for a public listing. Jaime Leverton, former CEO of Hut 8, will take over as Fortitude's new CEO on September 21, succeeding current CEO Andrea Childs who will transition to Chief Operating Officer.
The move is closely tied to the company's proposed merger with HeartSciences, which would see Fortitude list on Nasdaq under the ticker TUDE, pending regulatory and corporate approvals. Leverton brings significant experience to the role, having overseen Hut 8's merger with US Bitcoin Corp. and its transition to a US-domiciled, Nasdaq-listed company.
Fortitude operates over 60 megawatts of power capacity across seven sites in the US and has mined 72,696 ZEC in the first half of 2026, representing approximately 28% of total Zcash network output for the period. The company reported $20.9 million in revenue for Q2 and is expanding its capacity through additional equipment procurement, including a deal to purchase 9,000 Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro machines.
