Fruit Fly Simulation Makes $1 Trading Profit on Coinbase
A digital simulation of a fruit fly's neural wiring has been used to trade Bitcoin, and it's made a profit. Alex Wormuth, a software engineer at Coinbase, created the experiment dubbed 'Stonkfly'.
The system connects a complex simulation of an adult male fruit fly's nervous system to Bitcoin price data on Coinbase. It uses public market data from BTC-USDC and converts it into an RGB visual representation.
This image is then fed into thousands of simulated sensory inputs that correspond to neurons in the visual system of the insect. If the portfolio makes money, 15 identified PAM11 dopamine neurons get stimulated. If it loses money, two PPL101 neurons associated with aversive signaling get activated.
