FTX Wallets Move $75M in Ether to Market Maker Wintermute
A significant transfer of Ether (ETH) has taken place between wallets linked to FTX and Alameda Research. On Wednesday, 27,373 ETH worth approximately $75 million was moved from these wallets to Wintermute, a crypto market maker.
The bulk of the transfer arrived as a single transaction valued at around $65 million, according to on-chain analyst EmberCN. This move has sparked questions about whether the transferred Ether is tied to the upcoming creditor-distribution program run by the FTX Recovery Trust.
The largest recipient of the transfer was labeled 'Wintermute' on Etherscan. Typically, a transfer to a market maker or over-the-counter desk signals that a holder wants to sell or hedge a large position without routing it directly to a public exchange. However, on-chain data shows no outbound sale from the receiving wallet.
