Fundstrat's Farrell: Treasury Debt Shift Could Spark Explosive Bitcoin Catalyst
Fundstrat's Sean Farrell believes a potential shift in U.S. Treasury debt could be an explosive catalyst for Bitcoin, pushing it higher. He expects the Treasury's next quarterly refunding announcement around November 2 to reveal a change in debt issuance.
Farrell thinks the Treasury may reduce or suspend issuance of 10- to 30-year Treasuries, pushing more of its borrowing into shorter-dated bills. This would create money in the private market, leading to currency debasement, which he argues drives Bitcoin higher.
Bitcoin's price has been lagging behind DeFi tokens, which have surged far beyond it since early April. Uniswap has risen over 189%, Aerodrome Finance up 157%, Kamino up 129%, and Aave up 93% compared to Bitcoin's 27% rise.
Farrell also sees tokenization benefiting Solana, Aave, Uniswap, Aerodrome, and Kamino. He points to Solana's success in bringing real-world assets on-chain and Aerodrome's attractive valuation compared to Uniswap.
