Fusion Energy Pioneer CFS Targets Public Listing Amid Industry Boom
Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is planning to list on public markets within the next two to three years, signaling a significant milestone for the fusion energy industry. With nearly $3 billion in total capital raised and a projected $4 billion in future rounds, CFS has established itself as one of the most well-capitalized private companies in the sector.
The company's Series B2 round, closed in August 2025, exceeded its target by $63 million, demonstrating strong investor interest. Galaxy Digital, led by Mike Novogratz, participated in this round, representing a notable connection between crypto-native investors and deep-tech energy plays.
CFS is building two key projects: SPARC, a demonstration machine currently under construction in Massachusetts, designed to prove that its compact fusion approach can produce more energy than it consumes; and ARC, a planned 400 MW commercial power plant slated for Virginia, targeting grid-scale electricity generation by the early 2030s.
The competitive landscape is heating up as General Fusion has finalized a SPAC merger agreement with Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. III and plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker 'GFUZ' in mid-2026.
