FWOG Solana Memecoin Defies Trend With 22% Surge Amid $250M Peer Losses
FWOG, a Solana-based frog memecoin, defied the trend of its peers by surging over 22% in the past 24 hours. This divergence from the broader market came as top Solana meme coins lost nearly $250 million in value during the same period.
The larger memecoin market saw a decline of around $2.4 billion, but FWOG held steady, with its price near $0.00685 and a market capitalization of roughly $6.7 million. The token's daily trading volume exceeded $2.2 million, equivalent to about one-third of its entire market cap.
This high conviction flow in a thin market suggests that there is strong buying pressure behind FWOG. With the supply already fully circulating and no unlock calendar driving the spike, it appears that investors are still showing interest in the token.
In contrast, popular Solana meme coins like PENGU, BONK, WIF, PEPE, FLOKI, DOGE, SHIB, and TRUMP all printed losses on Thursday. This drop in value highlights how sensitive high-beta memes can be to changes in the broader market.
The recent surge in FWOG's price is particularly notable given its history. The token was rebranded from Flog the Frog (FLOG) after a community takeover and had previously skyrocketed when Kraken announced its listing in December 2024. Although it has since declined significantly, FWOG still holds a dedicated holder base of around 71,000 wallets.
