Galaxy Digital Expands Texas Footprint with $7.5 Million Data Center Acquisition
Galaxy Digital is expanding its presence in Texas by acquiring a 500-acre site for a new data center campus. The company, led by Mike Novogratz, paid about $7.5 million for the land, where it plans to build an AI and high-performance computing campus in the McGregor Industrial Park.
The first phase of the project will offer 74 megawatts of capacity and start power deliveries in 2028, with the potential to reach several hundred megawatts by 2030 once local utility infrastructure is expanded. This move marks another expansion of Galaxy Digital outside its core crypto business, following the purchase of Helios, a former Bitcoin mining facility in West Texas that was converted into an AI and high-performance computing site.
Novogratz commented on the acquisition, stating 'The demand for compute is a structural shift, not a passing cycle, and we believe the right way to meet it is by building infrastructure that strengthens the communities that host it.'
