Garlinghouse Disavows XRP Maximalism, Emphasizes Practical Use Cases
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is pushing back against accusations that he only promotes XRP (Ripple's native cryptocurrency) and doesn't acknowledge the value of other cryptocurrencies.
In a recent interview, Garlinghouse stated that he isn't an 'XRP maximalist', emphasizing that his focus is on solving real problems rather than promoting one token over others.
He pointed to cross-border payments as an example where XRP can be useful, noting that it could serve as the best bridge asset for moving money across borders. Garlinghouse also highlighted Ripple's institutional business, citing the company's growth in stablecoin-related volume and its expansion into one of the larger players in that market.
According to Garlinghouse, the choice between XRP and other assets like Solana comes down to which one actually solves a specific problem, not brand loyalty to any single cryptocurrency. He emphasized that Ripple's strategy is built around usefulness in real payment flows rather than convincing retail investors to bet everything on one coin.
