Garlinghouse Outlines Ripple's XRP Strategy for Cross-Border Payments

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has outlined his company's approach to XRP and its role in cross-border payments. According to Garlinghouse, Ripple uses XRP to address challenges in cross-border payments due to its transaction speed and low costs.

Giving the example of machine-to-machine and small-value payments, Garlinghouse said such use cases require payment systems capable of processing transactions worth fractions of a cent. However, he noted that XRP is not suitable for every use case and different digital assets can serve different purposes.

Garlinghouse also highlighted the importance of regulatory clarity in cryptocurrency adoption. He pointed to the GENIUS Act as an example of legislation providing clearer rules for stablecoins, particularly around disclosures and reserves. Following this, Garlinghouse noted that stablecoin payment activity increased.
