Garlinghouse: XRP Not Always Best Choice, Stablecoins Can Be More Efficient
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said XRP is not always the best choice for cross-border payments, and that stablecoins can be more efficient in certain situations. In a recent interview, Garlinghouse mentioned that while XRP can be suitable for some purposes, it's not the only option available. He noted that if a stablecoin can solve the same problem better, then it's right to use that asset.
Garlinghouse emphasized that he is not an 'XRP maximalist' and is optimistic about various cryptocurrencies for multiple reasons. He also revealed that he personally holds Solana (SOL) tokens. When discussing the value of cryptocurrencies, Garlinghouse stressed the importance of real-world use cases and problem-solving capabilities.
He criticized certain trends in the industry, such as the non-fungible token (NFT) boom and the spread of meme coins, which he believes have a net negative impact on the crypto market. Garlinghouse also drew attention to his stance on centralization around XRP, stating that he has no intention of responding to claims that XRP is centralized.
