GateToken Surges Amid Gate.io Growth and Burn Program
The recent surge in GateToken (GT) is not just a flash in the pan. Over the past week, the total crypto market cap has increased by about 15%, with altcoin market cap up around 13.4%. This broad risk-on phase sets a clear baseline driver for GT's move.
The CMC Fear & Greed Index is currently in 'Greed' territory with a score of around 78, indicating investors are willing to take more risk. Within the same seven-day window, GT has risen by about 23.7%, outperforming the altcoin basket by roughly 10.3 percentage points.
Analysts point out that Gate.io's recent growth in assets, users, and activity is a key factor driving GT's price increase. The exchange now holds around $7.4-$7.7 billion in on-platform assets, with reserve ratios exceeding 120%. This has led to a narrative of balance sheet strength rather than stress.
The burn program, utility expansion, and technicals are also contributing to the surge. GT's ongoing burns have removed about 63% of initial circulating supply, creating a structural net supply drain. As Gate expands its business and revenues, the burn program is expected to stay consistent or grow.
