Gazprom Powers Up Data Center with Depleted Gas

The Russian energy giant Gazprom has partnered with Crypto Energy to build a modular data center in Siberia, using the remaining gas from a depleted field.

The project is located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, northwest Siberia, and will utilize the low-pressure gas from the Medvezhye field. The Gasprom company will supply the gas to power the data center and its adjacent gas-powered power plant.

This partnership comes as the Russian government has banned cryptocurrency mining in Moscow and surrounding areas, citing energy grid overloads. However, Siberia's abundant cheap energy remains available for use, making it an attractive location for such projects.
