GE Vernova Stock Jumps on Fast-Tracked Nuclear Reactor Approval
GE Vernova's stock price surged to $962.49 on Tuesday after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission granted construction authorization for its BWRX-300 nuclear reactor at Tennessee's Clinch River site.
The regulatory review process concluded in just 14 months, four months ahead of the NRC's initial timeline projection. This marks only the second construction authorization for a novel US reactor design in more than ten years.
GE Vernova partnered with Hitachi to develop the BWRX-300, which represents a compact evolution of boiling-water reactor technology. The reactor has a generating capacity of 300 megawatts and can supply approximately 300,000 residential units with electricity.
