GENIUS Act Could Amplify XRP Use Case Through RLUSD Adoption
The GENIUS Act has sparked excitement among XRP enthusiasts, particularly in its potential to amplify the use case of the popular cryptocurrency.
A crypto researcher named SMQKE presented a document that highlights how the legislation could boost RLUSD's growth and increase XRP activity through transaction fees on the XRP Ledger.
The GENIUS Act was signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 18, 2025. It establishes requirements for reserves, licensing, and interoperability for stablecoins and creates a regulated environment for their use in financial markets.
According to SMQKE's document, stronger compliance requirements could improve confidence among financial institutions and support greater adoption of RLUSD, which is currently issued on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. Ripple lists additional supported networks as well.
The key point made by SMQKE is that higher RLUSD activity would generate more XRP-denominated transaction fees on the XRP Ledger, as every transaction requires a small amount of XRP to be destroyed as a cost. This connection between RLUSD and XRP usage is central to SMQKE's argument.
