GENIUS Act Could Amplify XRP's Use Case Through Stablecoin Growth
Crypto researcher SMQKE claims that the GENIUS Act could boost XRP Ledger activity by supporting RLUSD's growth. The act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 18, 2025, establishes requirements for stablecoin issuers and creates a regulated environment for their use in financial markets.
According to SMQKE, the GENIUS Act could strengthen RLUSD adoption while also increasing XRP activity through transaction fees on the XRP Ledger. The document attached to SMQKE's tweet examines how the act could affect RLUSD and XRP, saying that stronger compliance requirements could improve confidence among financial institutions and support greater adoption of the stablecoin.
The XRP Ledger requires every transaction to destroy a small amount of XRP as a transaction cost, which means that higher RLUSD activity could generate more XRP-denominated transaction fees. SMQKE's document suggests that using RLUSD in cross-border payments could create additional activity for the XRP Ledger.
