Ghana Expands Crypto Sandbox to 20 Companies, Including Notable Exchanges
Ghana's Securities and Exchange Commission has expanded its Virtual Asset Sandbox to include 20 companies, nearly doubling its original size. The updated list adds nine new firms to test crypto and tokenization products under regulatory watch.
The sandbox now includes a mix of tokenization platforms, virtual asset brokers, exchanges, and commodity-focused entities. Notable additions include Yellow Card, one of Africa's most active crypto exchanges with operations across over 20 countries, and GFX Brokers, which is testing tokenized treasury bills.
The expansion aims to provide regulators with a wider range of data points on various business models before finalizing the licensing regime. The sandbox's original 12-month clock includes a six-month checkpoint for market-ready firms to transition to formal licenses.
