Glamsterdam Testnet Faces Builder Abuse Concerns Amid Cheap Test Ether
Ethereum developers have confirmed that Glamsterdam will activate on Sepolia on October 6. However, they have also warned about potential builder abuse due to cheap test ether.
The developers are concerned that malicious builders can repeatedly win block auctions and withhold their transaction payloads during the public test phase. This is because test ether has no economic cost, making it cheaper for attackers to create multiple builder identities and bid aggressively.
The issue was discussed at a recent developer call, where consensus developer Potuz warned about the possibility of persistent disruption on the Sepolia network. He stated that existing safeguards may not be sufficient to prevent this type of abuse.
