Glamsterdam Upgrade Tests Ethereum Price Stability
The Ethereum network is preparing for its next major upgrade, Glamsterdam, which aims to triple base-layer throughput by repricing gas to match actual resource consumption. This change will hit state-growing operations hardest, as seen in a recent simulation that pushed annual state growth to roughly 387 GiB, enough to blow past a cited 650 GiB performance threshold within a year.
The Ethereum Foundation's candidate Glamsterdam schedule is expected on mainnet in the second half of 2026, with no fixed mainnet fork date. This leaves a live testing window and a market still deciding whether $2,500 is a floor or a ceiling for ETH's current price.
The Ethereum price has started to stabilize around $2,490, just below the psychological $2,500 mark. Recent price action has been pinned inside a tightening range, with immediate resistance at $2,550, $2,600 and support layers at $2,400, $2,450 and deeper at $2,200, $2,250.
