Global M2 Money Supply Surges by Nearly $1 Trillion
Global M2 money supply surged by nearly $1 trillion in one week, with China leading the charge at around 80%. Despite this significant increase, Bitcoin's price remains under pressure. The expansion of global M2 has historically been a signal for investors to pour money into assets like stocks, crypto, and real estate.
The data from Alpha Finance Labs shows that the U.S. dollar's money supply, or M2, increased by approximately $1 trillion in one week, with China accounting for around 80% of this growth at $800 billion. This growth has led to concerns about inflation and potential market volatility.
However, the impact on Bitcoin's price remains limited. According to data from TradingView, the U.S. dollar's money supply reached a record high of $23.16 trillion in recent weeks. This significant increase in M2 has contributed to the growth of crypto ETFs in the U.S., with nearly $1.10 billion flowing into these funds.
The influx of capital into crypto ETFs is likely due to the perception that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are a hedge against inflation and market volatility. However, experts caution that this trend may be short-lived and that investors should remain cautious in their investment decisions.
