Google Cloud Partners With Puffer to Offer Early Transaction Promises
Puffer, a company building transaction infrastructure for Ethereum, is working on a system to provide early promises of transactions and back them up with collateral.
The system uses Google Cloud as one of its gateways, which receives transactions and guarantees their results before settlement. This allows customers to make decisions based on the expected result of the transaction, even if it hasn't yet settled on the Ethereum blockchain.
Puffer's UniFi network would be the first to use this system, with the company promising to back early promises with collateral in case something goes wrong.
The penalty for a failed preconfirmation is 1 ETH, which gives the gateway a strong incentive to deliver on its promise. However, there are still many questions about how the system will work and who will be responsible if something goes wrong.
