Google Cloud to shutter Blockchain Node Engine by 2026
Google Cloud is shutting down its Blockchain Node Engine and Blockchain RPC services by December 15, 2026. The company has already started the wind-down process, disabling new node creation and RPC endpoint provisioning since June 15, 2026. Customers are being directed to Quicknode, which Google has named its officially recommended RPC infrastructure provider.
The shutdown will happen in two stages. The first stage, which began on June 15, 2026, involves disabling new node creation and RPC endpoints. The second stage, set for December 15, 2026, will see the deletion of all remaining nodes and endpoints. Google has provided migration documentation to help customers transition to Quicknode, which can be accessed through the Google Cloud Marketplace or directly on Quicknode’s platform.
Blockchain Node Engine provided managed blockchain nodes, including dedicated full nodes and archive nodes, primarily for Ethereum Mainnet, Polygon, and Solana. The service simplified running nodes by handling syncing, upgrades, and monitoring. The shutdown will impact engineering teams relying on these services, especially those using archive nodes for historical data queries.
The move benefits Quicknode, which gains a competitive edge as the officially recommended provider. Teams must treat the December 15, 2026, deadline seriously to avoid data loss.
