Google Spares AdX from Divestiture in DOJ Defeat
Google's advertising exchange platform, AdX, has avoided being sold off after a federal court denied the Department of Justice's request. The decision was made by Judge Leonie Brinkema, who instead ordered Google to make operational modifications to its advertising business framework.
The ruling follows an April 2025 determination that Google unlawfully monopolized two distinct advertising technology sectors. This is not the first time the DOJ has attempted to force Alphabet, Google's parent company, to divest assets - it is actually the second such attempt.
Despite this setback for the DOJ, the market still views Google favorably, with 30 analysts recommending a 'Strong Buy' and a mean price target of $422.59. This would represent a nearly 23% increase from its current trading levels.
