Grayscale Compares Zcash to Bitcoin, Predicts Potential Market Share Growth
Zcash (ZEC) has been gaining attention in recent weeks due to its price increases. Grayscale, a well-known name in the crypto space, has taken notice and made some interesting comparisons.
Grayscale compared ZEC's market capitalization to that of Bitcoin (BTC), noting that it has risen from less than 0.1% of BTC's market cap about a year ago to approximately 1.5% today.
Zcash's standout feature is its focus on financial privacy, according to Grayscale Research Head Zach Pandl. He notes that in an environment where digital transactions are increasingly analyzed, the demand for financial privacy may grow over time.
Pandl also points out that ZEC's current market share of 1.5% is not extraordinary in the cryptocurrency market. He cites examples such as XRP, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Dash, which each reached more than 3% of BTC's market capitalization in 2017 and 2018.
According to Pandl, if demand for privacy-preserving technology continues to grow and Zcash maintains its competitive advantage, ZEC's market share could increase even further.
