Grayscale Ditches Bitcoin Miners, Pivots to AI Compute with New ETF
Grayscale Investments has made a significant shift in its focus from Bitcoin mining to artificial intelligence (AI) compute, renaming its Bitcoin Miners ETF to the Grayscale AI Compute ETF. This move positions the fund as a retail-access vehicle for investors to tap into the growing demand for energy and compute resources driving AI development.
The change reduces direct exposure to Bitcoin miners and may divert capital and fundraising from mining and BTC-related adoption toward AI infrastructure and data-center plays, potentially altering market flow in adjacent crypto and DeFi sectors.
The Grayscale AI Compute ETF (GCPU) is now available as a way for ordinary investors to capitalize on the energy and compute demand driving AI. The pivot follows the trend of firms shifting from Bitcoin mining to AI compute, which has been gaining momentum in recent times.
