Grayscale Presses Senate Leaders for CLARITY Act Vote Before August Recess
Grayscale, a digital asset manager, has urged Senate leaders to bring the CLARITY Act to a floor vote before the August recess on July 31. In a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Grayscale Chief Legal Officer Craig Salm emphasized that regulatory uncertainty has subjected digital asset businesses to enforcement actions without an established federal framework governing market participation.
The company argued that defined standards would protect investors, encourage responsible innovation, and reduce incentives for companies and skilled workers to relocate abroad. With the remaining legislative calendar tightening ahead of the recess, Grayscale warned that a delay could leave the proposal competing with midterm election priorities during the remaining congressional calendar.
The CLARITY Act aims to create nationwide rules for digital asset markets by dividing oversight responsibilities between federal regulators. The bill has been advanced through a bipartisan 15-9 vote in the Senate Banking Committee and now faces reconciliation with the House-approved version before final enactment.
