Grayscale Transforms Bitcoin Miners ETF into AI Compute Fund with GCPU Ticker
Grayscale has revamped its Bitcoin Miners ETF into an AI Compute Fund, now trading under the ticker GCPU. This change shifts the focus from Bitcoin mining to high-performance computing, data centers, and power infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence.
The Grayscale AI Compute ETF tracks the Indxx High Performance Computing Index and comes with a 0.59% expense ratio. Despite this new mandate, major holdings such as IREN, Hut 8, and Applied Digital remain in the portfolio, closely connecting it to companies that operate across Bitcoin mining and AI-oriented computing infrastructure.
This transformation reflects a broader trend among some Bitcoin miners, which require substantial resources such as electricity, land, cooling systems, and grid connections. These can potentially support other power-intensive computing workloads, but Bitcoin mining and AI data-center operations have different hardware, customer requirements, and revenue models.
