Greece Busts $8M Crypto Investment Scam Linked to 10,000 Investors
Greek authorities have busted an alleged cryptocurrency investment scheme that collected over $8 million from at least 10,000 participants. According to the police report, the suspects promised high returns with little to no risk and used a platform to attract new members.
The investigation led to the arrest of 17 individuals, including nine serving members of the military who served as leaders in the scheme. The authorities seized €295,090 in cash, along with electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, and USB drives.
Police estimated that at least 10,000 people had subscribed to the platform, with 18 victims identified so far who made deposits totaling more than €55,970. The total value of the cryptocurrency fraud was valued at over $8 million.
