Greece Enters EU Crypto Landscape with First MiCA-Listed Providers
Greece has welcomed its first crypto-asset service providers to the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) register. According to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), four firms have been added to the list: BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet Greece, and Piraeus Bank.
The addition of these providers marks a significant step in Greece's rollout of MiCA supervision and highlights how regulatory responsibilities can be split across different Greek institutions. ESMA's updated register lists 359 unique providers in total, with the four new additions bringing Greece into line with other EU member states that have crypto-asset service providers formally listed under MiCA.
The move is significant for market participants as it reduces legal uncertainty for users and counterparties across borders. It also serves as a reference point for compliance expectations around governance, customer protection, and operational controls.
