Greece Joins MiCA Register with Four Domestic Crypto Firms
Greece has officially joined the MiCA register after more than a year of having no domestic crypto-asset service providers (CASPs). Four firms, BCASH, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet, and Piraeus Bank, were added to the European Securities and Markets Authority's (ESMA) list on September 24, 2026. This marks the first wave of Greek MiCA CASP entries since the regulation's transitional period began.
Three of these firms, BCASH, Xenios Blockchain Group, and Capital Wallet, were authorized by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) between June 30 and August 7, 2026. Piraeus Bank was authorized by the Bank of Greece. The four new entrants offer a range of services, including exchange, custody, and transmission of orders.
Piraeus Bank's entry is significant as it indicates that traditional Greek finance is slowly entering the MiCA-regulated crypto space. As one of Greece's systemic banks, Piraeus' authorization sets a precedent for mainstream lenders to participate in EU crypto regulation.
