GTA 6 Scams Target Cryptocurrency Wallets with Malicious Code

Rockstar's upcoming game GTA 6 has become a target for scammers who are trying to steal users' cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Fake download sites have appeared online, claiming to offer early access to the game in exchange for cryptocurrency payments.

The fake websites mimic Rockstar's official material, including console information and a countdown timer, but behind the payment button lies malicious code that inspects connected wallets and prepares transactions for approval.

Researchers found one script targeting Solana users, which would drain their wallet balance except for enough SOL to cover network fees. A larger script covering Ethereum and other networks can identify tokens and NFTs, calculate their value, and request different permissions.

Users should be cautious when visiting unfamiliar websites, especially those promising 'early access' or 'leaked copies' of the game. Before connecting a wallet, check for warning signs such as misspellings in the domain name or promises that seem too good to be true.
