Pi Network Price Sees 3% Surge Ahead of Protocol 27 and DEX Launch
Pi Network's price has risen 3% to $0.0964 over 24 hours, following the anticipated rollout of Protocol 27 and its native decentralized exchange (DEX). This comes as Bitcoin surged 5% above $81,200, Ethereum crossed $2,500, and XRP gained 10%. However, Pi's smaller increase suggests traders remain cautious before the September 15 upgrade.
The network has completed nine mandatory upgrades since open mainnet began in February 2025. Protocol 27 is set to introduce automated market maker pools and smart contract authentication, along with RPC server infrastructure supporting applications and decentralized trading. The release also includes OpenPay reaching mainnet on August 27 and restoring cash-in on September 1.
Pi's planned exchange will combine an order book with automated market maker liquidity, which was tested through the SLICE token launch. Between June 11 and June 28, roughly 242,000 Pioneers committed 15.92 million Test-Pi, showing interest in the project. The DEX might show that trusted users liquidate, trade assets, and ecosystem tokens, strengthening Pi's utility argument.
